Handsome female Kai Ken
This medium sized dog is from the Land of the rising sun – Japan, where is a national treasure and has been bred for centuries. The Kai Ken is an extremely rare dog even in its native land and is related to the Japanese Spitz dog type.
Pretty adult male Kai Ken
The appereance of the dog shows a wedge shaped head and prick ears. Body sized of the male Kai Ken is 18 to 22 inches at the shoulder, while the females are slightly smaller, 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder. The tail may be curled over the back, or carried in a sickle position. Limbs should be strong and hocks should be well developed reflecting the dogs’ history of mountain life.

The temper of the Japan dog talks for intelligent, agile, alert and brave. Kai Kens are dogs whose are naturally hunters and make good guard dogs, being reserved with strangers but loyal to their families. They are really good friends with the whole members of the family, and really peaceful and kind with the children. Also they are not usually aggressive towards other dogs. Many love to swim, and have been known to cross rivers and climb trees while chasing their prey.
